The Person Matters More Than the Method

People spend a long time researching types of therapy and almost no time on the question that turns out to matter most.

This is not about which approach is best. It is whether you can sit across from this person and tell the true version of what has been happening, not the tidy one.

Credentials tell you someone is qualified to help. They do not tell you whether you will feel able to talk to them. So this page gives you both what each clinician is registered to do and enough of a sense of them to guess at the second part.

Professional Roles

What the Designations Mean

Our team holds different professional designations, and they are not interchangeable. The difference can affect what someone is regulated to do and whether your insurance will reimburse your sessions.

RSW

Registered Social Worker

Regulated by the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers. Social work training takes in a person's whole situation, including the systems and circumstances around them.

RP

Registered Psychotherapist

Regulated by the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario, with training focused specifically on psychotherapy practice.

RP-Q

Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying)

A recognized registration category for psychotherapists who have completed their core training and are building supervised practice hours toward full registration. Qualifying registrants are regulated by the same college and held to the same professional and ethical standards.

CCC

Canadian Certified Counsellor

A national professional certification granted by the Canadian Counselling and Psychotherapy Association. It is a certification rather than a provincial regulatory registration.

Insurance coverage varies by designation. Confirm with your insurer which designations your plan covers before booking.

You Can Check Any of This

Every registration number on this page can be verified independently, and we would encourage you to do it.

The Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers, the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario, and the Canadian Counselling and Psychotherapy Association each maintain a public register you can search.

Very few counselling websites publish their registration numbers. We do, because a credential you cannot check is not much of a credential.

Languages

Speak in the Language That Fits

Sessions may be available in English, Hindi, Punjabi, Urdu, and Gujarati, depending on which clinician you see and their availability.

If you would rather speak in a language other than English, say so when you get in touch, and we will tell you honestly what is possible.

When you get in touch, please tell us who the counselling is for, and we will match you accordingly.

How We Match You

When you contact us, we will ask what has been happening, who is involved, and any preferences you have. Gender, language, experience with a particular concern, or a particular style are all reasonable things to ask for.

From there we suggest a clinician. It is a suggestion rather than an allocation, and you are entitled to ask for someone else.

If the fit is not right once you have started, tell us. It is useful information rather than an insult, and changing therapists is a normal request.

Start With a Conversation

You do not need to choose a therapist from this page. Most people cannot tell from a profile, and that is fine.

Tell us what has been happening, and we will work together to find the right person for you to see.

We'll start by listening.
