Sabrina Abrol, RSW

Psychotherapist and Registered Social Worker, C.S. Counselling & Consulting Services

Counselling in English, Punjabi, Hindi, and Urdu

Addiction and mental health are usually treated as two separate subjects, by two separate services, in two separate buildings.

For the person living it, they are rarely separable at all. The drinking started because of the anxiety, or the anxiety got worse because of the drinking, and by the time anyone is asked to explain the order of events, it no longer matters much.

Sabrina's training covers both, which means you do not have to decide which problem you are bringing before you arrive.

Four Languages, and Why It Matters

Many people in Brampton work entirely in English and still find it is not the language their feelings live in.

You can be completely fluent, handle every piece of official business in English, and then sit down to describe something painful and find that the words just don’t come out right. The account is accurate, yet it somehow feels untrue.

English, Punjabi, Hindi, and Urdu

Sabrina works in English, Punjabi, Hindi, and Urdu. Clients are not asked to choose one and stay there. Many people use English for most of a session and move into another language when something matters or when a word exists in one language and simply has no equivalent in another.

If it would help to speak in a language other than English, please let us know when you book.

What You Can Talk About With Sabrina

Depending on your needs and her professional scope, counselling with Sabrina may cover:

  • Mental health and emotional concerns generally
  • Stress and feeling overwhelmed
  • Anxiety and worry
  • Low mood and depression
  • Self-esteem and confidence
  • Coping and finding ways through a difficult period
  • Alcohol and addiction concerns
  • Relationship and family difficulties
  • Life changes and transitions

If you are dealing with something that another team member could better support, she will say so.

Working With Couples

Sabrina is one of two clinicians at the practice who work with couples, alongside our founder Coslyn Selby.

Couples counselling is not reserved for relationships in crisis, and it does not require both partners to be certain about anything. Most couples arrive having had the same argument for a long time without resolving it, and the useful work is usually on the pattern rather than the topic.

Her languages matter here too. In relationships where one partner is more comfortable in Punjabi, Hindi, or Urdu, sessions do not have to be conducted entirely in English, which changes what can actually be said.

Alcohol and Addiction

Sabrina's postgraduate training specifically focuses on addictions and mental health, which shapes how she approaches this work.

People rarely arrive at this conversation early. Most have spent a long period privately monitoring themselves, comparing their drinking to other people's, and concluding it is probably fine. By the time someone raises it with a professional, they have usually been thinking about it for years.

No Required Starting Point

There is no requirement to have reached any particular point or to have decided on an outcome. Some people come intending to stop. Others want to understand what the drinking is doing for them before deciding anything. Both are legitimate starting points.

What sits underneath is often anxiety, low mood, grief, or pressure that had no other outlet. Treating the drinking without that tends not to hold, which is the practical argument for working with someone trained in both.

Her Approach

Sabrina works in an integrated way rather than applying one method to everyone.

Depending on your needs and her training, she may draw on:

01

Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT)

Looking at how thoughts, feelings, and behaviour connect, and working on the patterns that keep a difficulty in place.

02

Solution-focused therapy

Starts from what is already working and what a realistic next step could be, rather than only examining what is wrong.

03

Mindfulness-informed strategies

Building the ability to notice a reaction arriving before it takes over.

04

Client-centred counselling

You lead the direction of the work rather than have it decided for you.

Is Sabrina the Right Therapist for Me?

She may be a particularly strong fit if you are looking for someone who brings:

  • Sessions in Punjabi, Hindi, or Urdu as well as English
  • Specific training in addictions alongside mental health
  • Experience with anxiety, low mood, stress, and self-esteem
  • Experience working with couples
  • A practical approach combined with a client-led style
  • Somewhere to raise drinking without having decided what you want to do about it

She is currently accepting new clients.

If you are unsure, the free 30-minute consultation exists for exactly that. It is a conversation about what has been happening, not a commitment, and it is also meant to help you find the right person to see.

If the fit is not right once you have started, say so. Changing therapists is a reasonable request.

Professional Registration and Verification
