Listen.
We start with your account of what has been happening rather than a form or a diagnosis.
Most adults who contact us have spent a long time being the person other people rely on.
They are the one who sorts things out. They keep the household running, handle family emergencies, absorb the pressure at work, and do not make a fuss. Somewhere in that, their own difficulties stopped being counted as difficulties.
Counselling is where they stop being the reliable one for an hour and become the person in the room.
C.S. Counselling & Consulting Services works with adults at every stage of life, in person at our Brampton clinic and virtually across Ontario.
Usually, yes. Adults come to us from very different places.
Adults in their twenties and early thirties working out careers, relationships, independence, and the gap between the life they expected and the one they have.
Adults in the middle of everything, managing work, a mortgage, young children, aging parents, and very little left over for themselves.
Adults whose children have grown up, facing a quieter house and questions they postponed for twenty years.
Adults in later life, dealing with retirement, health changes, bereavement, loneliness, or a sense of no longer being needed.
Adults who are new to Canada, rebuilding a life and a career at the same time.
Adults who have never talked to anyone about any of it, and are not certain they want to start now.
No.
People postpone counselling because they compare themselves to someone worse off. They are functioning. They go to work. Nothing catastrophic has happened. Other people have real problems.
That comparison is not a useful measure. Counselling is not a resource that runs out if someone whose situation is less severe uses it.
The more honest question is whether something has affected you long enough that you are tired of managing it alone. Poor sleep. A short temper you do not recognize. Dread on a Sunday evening. A relationship that has gone flat. Grief you never really stopped to feel. A sense of going through the motions.
None of that requires a crisis to justify attention. Quite often the people who wait for a crisis are the ones who could have avoided one.
Depending on your needs and your therapist's scope, counselling may explore:
If you want detail on how individual sessions actually work, our service page covers it.
Most people have not, and it shows in the same few worries.
Fit matters more than most people expect. Two clinicians can be equally qualified, and one will still be easier for you to talk to.
Our team includes psychotherapists, registered social workers, and counsellors with different backgrounds, styles, and areas of focus. When you get in touch, we will ask what has been happening and what you are looking for and suggest who may suit.
If it is not working, say so. Changing therapists is a reasonable request and not an awkward one.
We start with your account of what has been happening rather than a form or a diagnosis.
Work, family, culture, history, health, and circumstances may all be part of it. You decide which parts matter.
We work toward practical direction based on your needs and your therapist's training.
Depending on the clinician, counselling may draw on Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Solution-Focused Therapy, mindfulness-informed strategies, and psychotherapy.
Explore Our Therapy ModalitiesWe have supported clients in Brampton and across Ontario since 2011. The practice is led by Coslyn Selby, RSW, a Registered Social Worker and psychotherapist with over 20 years of professional counselling experience.
Appointments are available in person and online, including some evening and Saturday availability, because counselling that does not fit around work tends not to last.
The free initial consultation exists so you can ask questions and get a sense of whether the service is right before committing to anything.
Brampton is one of Canada's most diverse cities, and many adults here manage expectations from multiple directions. Family obligations, community reputation, what is acceptable to discuss, and what is not.
For some people, seeking counselling feels like a private matter that their family would misunderstand. For others, background is not the point at all, and they would rather it were not treated as the explanation for everything.
Both are fine. Multilingual counselling may be available in languages including Hindi, Punjabi, and Urdu, depending on therapist availability.
Culturally responsive counselling means you decide which parts of your story are relevant.

No. You can contact us directly.
There is no threshold you have to clear. If something has been weighing on you, that is enough reason to have a conversation about it.
Yes, your therapist will explain the legal and professional limits of confidentiality at the start.
It varies considerably. Some people come briefly with something specific; others work over a longer period. It is reviewed as you go.
That depends on your benefits plan and the professional designation of the clinician you see. Confirm directly with your insurer before booking.
Yes. Tell us any preferences you have, including gender, language, or experience with a particular concern, and we will discuss the options.
Then you stop, or you try a different therapist. Nothing about counselling obliges you to continue.
Yes, I can work with appropriate clients anywhere in Ontario.
You do not need to have worked out what is wrong. Most people have not, and that is often exactly what counselling is for.
Tell us what has been happening and how you would like to feel differently.
We'll start by listening.
