The Ontario Health Insurance Plan (OHIP) does not pay for psychologists’ private services. We charge an hourly rate of $240 for all direct contacts, either in the context of treatment or assessment. An hour of treatment includes 50 minutes of face-to-face contact and 10 minutes for documentation. The hourly rate also applies to time spent in indirect service, which includes telephone consultations, completion of forms (during or following the course of treatment or assessment), and preparation of documents including assessment reports, consultation or progress reports, and letters.
The first session with a therapist is an intake assessment that lasts between 60 – 90 minutes. All sessions thereafter are 50 minute sessions, which cost $240.
