Meet Augustine Boadu

counsellor

My name is Augustine Boadu, and I am a dedicated counsellor with over nine years of experience supporting individuals facing addictions and mental health challenges. I am registered with the College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers. I hold a Bachelor of Honours degree in Psychology from York University and a Post-Graduate Certificate in Addictions and Mental Health from Humber College. I am currently in my second year of the Master of Social Work program at Wilfrid Laurier University.

Throughout my career, I have worked in a variety of clinical and community settings, including Hope Place Centre, St. Michael’s Hospital, and Trillium Health Partners. These experiences have allowed me to support diverse populations dealing with substance use, mental health concerns, and complex life challenges.

I am committed to providing a safe, compassionate, and non-judgmental space where clients feel heard and supported. My approach to counselling is client-centered and collaborative, focusing on helping individuals build resilience, develop practical coping strategies, and gain deeper insight into their experiences.

My therapeutic approach is integrative, meaning I draw from a range of evidence-based practices to best support each client’s unique needs. Some of the approaches I incorporate in my work include Narrative Therapy, Strengths-Based Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), and Solution-Focused Therapy (SFT). I believe therapy works best when it is collaborative, and I work alongside clients to help them identify their strengths and move toward meaningful personal goals.

In our work together, my focus is on helping clients explore the underlying factors contributing to their challenges while developing practical and effective strategies for change. I believe that every individual has the capacity for growth and improved well-being, and I am committed to supporting clients as they navigate their journey toward healing, resilience, and personal development.
